Taproot
TAP ROOT — A strong root, sometimes swollen, which grows vertically into the soil or compost.
In reading about roots, I have learned that there are seveal different kinds and formations. One of a plant’s strongest roots is known as the “taproot”. This root is long and thick and goes straight down, causing it to have a very strong and deep hold to the soil.
This can illustrate what we often wish for our children as they grow older. If that first taproot is deep and strong, it can be a great anchor for them, causing them to hold their ground when necessary, making them able to stand firm when life calls them to.
The taproot can also form new sprouts. In the same way, we can hope that we have given our children enough strength that they can begin forming new roots on their own as they mature.
